Border Grime is a great London based producer you should be keeping an eye out for. I had a quick chat with him to get a bit of background on his music…

Who is Border Grime?

I’m a Frutch (French & Dutch) producer living in London.

What artists most influenced your style?

There are a lot of things that influence my style of production, but in the case of this track, I would say artists like Calibre, LSB, Koan Sound, Alix Perez, Camo & Krooked and many other drum and bass artists would have inspired me.

What are your weapons of choice in the studio?

Currently it would be NI’s Maschine (and the Komplete suite as well) in combination with Logic Pro, but I also like using home recordings of random noise to add some detail and texture to my productions.

Tell us a bit about the track you are kindly giving away?

174 BPM – the perfect drum and bass tempo ☺ – ‘St Gilles’ is definitely on a liquid vibe but you can still feel a bit of the grit trough the track. I made this when I was living in Bethnal Green: trough my window you could see the sun going down on St Gilles tower, I guess I tried to capture that moment.

Any further projects on the horizon you can tell us about?

I will be releasing another drum and bass inspired track called ‘Money Talks’ in the following weeks on a compilation for Institute celebrating they 1st anniversary. It will be a free download as well, so keep your eyes open for this one!
