Boom! time for our first selection of DNB nuggets for 2017 and we’re starting off the new year with some bangers!…

Blu Mar Ten – Empire State [Blu Mar Ten Music]

20 years in the game and Blu Mar Ten deliver another great album showcasing their clean, smooth and deep sounds. The theme of this album is stripped back drums with lush pads and sounds. Added in are hauntingly beautiful vocals from kite on tracks like Fall from Grace and Delirium. The more dance floor side of things are covered by tracks Rollcage and Titans. Overall a very well rounded effort.

Various – Nexus Point Volume One [Nurtured Beatz Recordings]

Nurtured beatz present a various artist LP that perfectly sums up their rolling and techy sound. Plenty of new names to keep and eye on here such as Audioholic, Dailiv and Mark Kloud alonside regulars Kalm and Spindall.

Command Strange – Lifetime EP [V Recordings]

Two names now firmly established in the V camp Command Strange and Alibi link up here for 3 solid tracks. Tough and rolling is theme here as these tracks will slide straight into the mix for dance floor damage!

Dub Phizix – Spot Light / Rotate [Metalheadz]

Dub Phizix’s fabric album last year really was a highlight for me but in this outing for Metalheadz we have something a bit different. Two atmospheric tracks layered with breaks, groove and a nod to the old school.

HLZ – From The Past EP [The Dreamers Recordings]

An excellently rounded 4 track EP from HLZ here showcasing his versatility but with a deep theme throughout. Shades of Ivy Lab’s more rolling bits throughout almost, which is definitely a winner for me.

Lakeway – OXT EP [Diffrent Music]

A label and a producer to watch out for in 2017 here. Lakeway’s OXT EP has the combination of half time beats layered with choppy breaks we’ve come to expect from Diffrent with bags of atmosphere and energy executed to great effect.

Utile – Control / Renowned [Citate Forms]

A new label that continues to impress and showcase new talent comes up with the goods yet again here with two tracks from Utile. Renowned has been a particular favourite for me since it hit my inbox with its stripped back rolling vibe.

Total Science VS Digital & Spirit – TSDS001 / TSDS002 [C.I.A Vs Phantom Audio]

Great combo here as four DNB stalwarts give us a dose of their classic sounds mashed together to excellent effect. Lovers of DNB old a new should be bagging this EP.
